It is the last one of its kind
Cielito del Mar is the last remaining original Chileno Bay estate from Baja's golden age, and it was designed by Cliff May — the mid-century architect known as the father of the California ranch house. It has recently been extensively remodelled. His signature runs through it: every room opens to the outdoors, and the floors are flagstone throughout.
Its own point, and its own beach
The estate is perched on its own point with no neighbours on either side, and it has its own secluded beach in the cove. It is the only stand-alone residence available to rent inside Chileno Bay — everything else there is resort. The grounds are dotted with quiet corners: you can be eighteen people in this house and still find a place where nobody is.
The pool
A large pool with an integrated jacuzzi built to feel like a natural hot spring, with a shaded dining area and bar beside it. Paddle boards, kayaks and yoga mats are on the property, and there is a beach butler for the sand.
It comes staffed
Casa Cielito del Mar is a staffed estate: a butler, a cook and housekeeping are on site and included in your stay. That is a different kind of holiday from renting a house and organising it yourself — breakfast appears, the house stays in order, and somebody is there when you need something. Our concierge can add an executive chef for a fee if you want a particular menu, and arranges everything outside the property.
The bedrooms — 14 beds across 8 suites
Master Suite — king, private bathroom with an old-fashioned soaking tub.
Suites 2, 3, 4 and 5 — king each, private bathroom.
Suite 6 — two queens, private bathroom.
Honeymoon Suite — king, with both an indoor and an outdoor shower.
Bunk suite — four double beds and two singles, private bathroom. On its own, it sleeps ten children.
Every suite has its own bathroom, and every room has a view.
Weddings on the beach
Couples have married on the estate's secluded beach — the view goes on forever, the music plays under the stars, and because the cove faces the way it does, the morning after gives you a sunrise over the water. Events need approval in advance; tell us your date and headcount and we will confirm what is possible.
Where it sits
Inside the gated development of Chileno Bay, which also holds the Auberge resort and its restaurants. 15 minutes from Cabo San Lucas and 20 minutes from San Jose del Cabo — you are between the two rather than committed to either. There is 24/7 security and private parking.

The estate has its own secluded beach in Chileno Bay Cove, and it keeps paddle boards and kayaks on the property. Sea conditions in Los Cabos change with the season, so ask us for your dates and our concierge will tell you exactly what the water is doing while you are here.

Is it good for a wedding?
Couples have married on the estate's secluded beach, with the ceremony facing an open horizon and dinner under the stars. Events need approval in advance and may carry extra conditions and fees. Tell us your date and how many guests you expect.
Events are not automatic: they need our written approval in advance, and an event fee, community permits and a damage deposit may apply.
Is it good for children?
Yes. The bunk suite alone sleeps ten, there are paddle boards and kayaks, and the estate is gated with 24/7 security. Children are welcome.
Is there a gym?
No. A guest said in a review that an on-site gym is the one thing the estate is missing, and we would rather repeat that than let you find out on arrival. There are yoga mats on the property, and our concierge can arrange a trainer.
What is nearby?
The estate sits inside the gated Chileno Bay development, which holds the Auberge resort and its restaurants. It is 15 minutes from Cabo San Lucas and 20 minutes from San Jose del Cabo, so you are between the marina and nightlife of one and the galleries and colonial centre of the other.
Is the estate staffed?
Yes. A butler, a cook and housekeeping are on site and included in your stay. Breakfast appears, the house stays in order, and there is somebody there when you need something — you are not renting a house and then organising it yourself. If you want a particular menu, our concierge can bring in an executive chef for an additional fee. Everything outside the property — groceries, transport, golf, yachts, fishing — the concierge arranges and quotes separately.
Is a vehicle available?
The estate lists a new SUV for guests. Ask us to confirm it for your dates before you count on it — we will not tell you a car is included until we have it in writing for your booking.
What are the check-in and check-out times?
Check-in is from 4:00 PM — note that this estate is 4 PM, not the 3 PM of most of our villas — and check-out is at 11:00 AM.
Are pets allowed? Can we smoke?
Please ask us about pets — it must be confirmed for your dates before you travel. Smoking is not permitted anywhere inside the villa. Guests who wish to smoke may do so outside, in the open-air areas.
How far is the airport?
Los Cabos International Airport is roughly 30 to 35 minutes by car.
