Casa de Sueños sits behind the security gates of Los Fundadores, inside Puerto Los Cabos in San José del Cabo. Five bedrooms for up to 10 guests look out over the Fundadores golf course to the Sea of Cortez, and the terrace — a heated infinity pool, a hot tub, a fire pit and a palapa — is where most of the day tends to happen.

Inside, the open-concept living and dining area slides straight out onto that terrace, so the line between indoors and out mostly disappears. The gourmet kitchen has professional appliances and a breakfast bar, the dining table seats ten, and there is a separate media room for the evenings and a ping pong table for the afternoons. Air conditioning, ceiling fans, satellite TV, a stereo system, an ice maker and high-speed wireless internet run throughout, and the community has private security with gated access.

Four of the bedrooms have a king bed, an en-suite bathroom, a private terrace and an ocean view. The fifth has two bunk beds and its own en-suite bathroom — the room the kids always claim first. There are five full bathrooms plus a half bath, and daily maid service is included.

The beach is about a five-to-six minute walk. Every reservation includes a homeowners association fee that covers access to the Fundadores Beach Club, with its restaurant, air-conditioned gym and pool.
