Casa Finisterra is a four-bedroom villa on the cliffs of Pedregal, above Cabo San Lucas, and it is the one house in our portfolio that people choose for the architecture before anything else. It was designed by the New York architect Steven Harris and won an American Institute of Architects New York Honor Award. That is not a marketing line we invented — all three of our sources confirm it, and it is the reason most guests book this house. It is a cliff-top ocean-view property looking out over the Pacific, not a beachfront one; the beach is about fifteen minutes on foot, downhill.

There are four bedrooms across 7,537 square feet, with four full bathrooms and a half bathroom. The primary bedroom has a King bed, a private balcony, a television and an en-suite bathroom with a shower. The other three bedrooms have Queen beds and en-suite bathrooms with double vanities, walk-in closets and ocean views. Eight guests, four bathrooms, nobody sharing.

The house is built into the rock, and so is the pool: a heated lap pool set into the stone at the very edge of the cliff. There is an outdoor fireplace, outdoor dining and several separate lounging areas. Inside, a wood-burning fireplace, a gourmet kitchen with a wine cellar and an ice machine, a dining table for eight, a gym with cardio equipment against the natural rock face, a grand piano, a study, central air conditioning, satellite TV, a networked audio system running indoors and out, water purification and WiFi. Daily housekeeping is included except Sundays and Mexican holidays, Pedregal is gated with 24-hour security, and the community's tennis and pickleball courts can be reserved in advance.

Casa Finisterra was designed by Steven Harris, a New York architect, and it holds an American Institute of Architects New York Honor Award — a peer-judged award for the building itself, not a travel-industry prize. What that means in practice is a house built into the rock rather than on top of it: the stone comes inside, the lap pool is cut into the cliff, the gym looks onto a natural rock face. If you have ever booked a villa on the strength of a photograph and arrived to find the interior generic, this is the opposite of that experience. It is also the argument for booking it over a larger villa: there are four bedrooms here, and people still choose it over houses twice the size.

A Heated Lap Pool Cut Into the Cliff

The pool is a lap pool, heated, set into the rock at the cliff edge with the Pacific in front of it. A lap pool is a specific choice — it is for swimming lengths rather than for twelve people standing in the shallow end, which suits the way this house is used. The heating matters: from December through March the air in Los Cabos is perfect and unheated water goes untouched. There is an outdoor fireplace on the terrace, outdoor dining and several separate places to sit. Ask your concierge to confirm the pool heating in writing for your dates.

A Grand Piano, a Wine Cellar and a Gym in the Rock

Three things in this house that are genuinely uncommon in a four-bedroom villa: a grand piano in the living space, a wine cellar off the kitchen, and a gym whose cardio equipment faces the natural rock the house is built into. There is also a study for anyone who has to work, a wood-burning fireplace — wood, not gas — and a networked audio system that runs the whole property, inside and out.

Silence Above, the City Below

This is the second reason people book Casa Finisterra. Pedregal is a quiet hillside behind a 24-hour gate, and the centre of Cabo San Lucas — the marina, the restaurants, the bars, the sportfishing fleet — is minutes downhill. You get the silence of a cliff-top house and a ten-minute drive to dinner, which is a combination most quiet addresses in Los Cabos cannot offer. The practical footnote: Pedregal is a hill, so walking down is easy and walking back up is not. Your concierge arranges transport either way.

The Pacific Below Is Not for Swimming

Pedregal faces the Pacific, and the Pacific on this side of the peninsula is not safe to swim — strong currents, hard surf, all year. The beach is about fifteen minutes' walk from the house and is worth going to for the sunset, not for the water. For swimming you have the heated lap pool at the villa, and the calm beaches of the Sea of Cortés side — Medano, Chileno, Santa Maria, Palmilla — within a short drive. Your concierge will tell you which suits your dates. If swimming in the ocean is central to your trip, say so and we will suggest a villa on the other side instead.

The Four Bedrooms

Yes, and the kitchen is a gourmet kitchen with a wine cellar alongside it. Chef service is quoted by meal and number of guests. For a group of 6 to 12 people, breakfast or lunch is USD 250 and dinner is USD 340, plus 16% IVA. Groceries for the menu are billed separately with a 30% service charge, and your concierge confirms the full amount in writing before your stay.

Is butler service available?

Yes, on request: USD 120 for four hours, USD 220 for eight hours and USD 320 for twelve, per butler, plus tax.

Is concierge service included?

Yes. Blue Desert Cabo concierge service is included with every stay at Casa Finisterra. Your concierge arranges airport transportation, a private chef, a butler, grocery pre-stocking, court reservations, spa treatments, golf coordination, yacht charters, fishing, restaurant reservations and tours. The services themselves are quoted separately.

Are pets allowed at Casa Finisterra?

No, pets are not allowed at Casa Finisterra. If travelling with a pet is essential for your group, ask us before you book: any exception would need the owner's written approval, and it is not something we can promise.

Is smoking allowed at Casa Finisterra?

No. The villa is entirely non-smoking, indoors and outdoors. A USD 350 penalty may apply. If anyone in your group smokes, plan for it before you arrive — we would rather tell you now than charge you later.

Can we host an event at Casa Finisterra?

No. Casa Finisterra is a four-bedroom private home on a quiet hillside and is not set up for events, so gatherings with guests who are not staying at the villa are not possible here. If you are planning an event in Los Cabos, ask us — several other villas in our portfolio are built for it and we will point you to the right one.

What is the minimum stay?

Three nights most of the year, and seven nights during Thanksgiving week (22 to 29 November) and from 18 December to 4 January. Your concierge will confirm what works for your dates.

Is there a security deposit?

Yes, a refundable security deposit of USD 3,800. Your concierge confirms the full breakdown of rate, taxes and deposit in writing before you commit.

What are the check-in and check-out times?

Check-in is at 3 PM and check-out is at 11 AM. If you need either one adjusted, ask your concierge in advance and we will tell you whether it is possible for your dates.

About 7,537 square feet of built area — unusually large for four bedrooms, which is part of why the house feels the way it does.

Can we walk to the restaurants and the marina?
